1. Spend Your Festive Season with Us
Albert and Jeremy are telling me that we are already filling up with booking for the Festive Season. We can accommodate up to 30 for a sit down dinner, 40 for a cocktail party at Le Bistro in Prahran; and up to 40 and 45 respectively at L'Epicerie in Elsternwick! So, don't delay until the last minute rush: click here to see our function packages or call me 0438 357 099 to discuss your Christmas and New Years' Eve Functions!

We will be open for Christmas Eve Dinner (December 24) and Christmas Day Lunch (December 25), speaking of which: Jacky, Koby, and Adrian are preparing a delish three-course menu (with surprises) for Christmas Lunch (75 pp / kids menu from 40 pp) - details will be online soon.

2. Chez Olivier Gift Vouchers
For those who seem to have everything, or just to say "I Love You," give them more than a present this Christmas - treat them to an experience with Chez Olivier Gift Vouchers.  Call me for further details on 0438 357 099 or click here to fill in the gift vouchers online.

3. Summer Hours

So that my hard-working boys and girls can spend some time with their families and friends over the holidays, the restaurants will not be open for dinner on Friday, December 25, and all day Friday, January 1. L'Epicerie in Elsternwick will close for a short break from Monday, January 4 to Friday, January 8; and Le Bistro in Prahran will close for an even shorter break from Monday, January 11 to Thursday, January 14, 2010.

4. Special Event - Australia Day Dinner, Tuesday, January 26, 2010
A "Frozzie" Experience
My chefs and I are organising a very special event on Austalia Day, Tuesday, January 26, 2010. We will introduce (and finally explain...) the "Frozzie" concept, which is very special to my gourmet philosophy: French cuisine + Aussie produce = "Frozzie" experience. It will be the night of French food with a contemporary Aussie twist - a five-course feast matched with alternating French and Australian wines. We are still working out the details, but a number of our regular foodies have already put their names down for this event. So, to register your interest, don't hesitate to call me on 0438 357 099. 80 pp (food only) / 125 pp (with matching wines)

5. There is no such thing as French Champagne ...
A little "Did You Know," and a plug for our Festive Bubbles.
"Champagne" is used to denote a range of sparkling wines which are produced exclusively in the Champagne region of France. This appelation is jealously guarded and protected by European and International laws and statutes. Champagne is not the only region in France where sparkling wines are being made. Bordeaux, Burgundy, Loire, etc, have also produced remarkable drops. However, their wines are called Crémant (for those wines produced using the méthode champenoise) or Mousseux (for those produced using other methods). These names can also be applicable to sparkling wines produced elsewhere in the world. Australia is a recognised leader in the production of red sparkling wines, which have raised eyebrows (in a good way!!!) when I took some to France. Certain producers of cheaper 'sparklers'  forego the expensive and time-consuming second fermentation process by injecting sugar and gas (usually a carbon dioxide product) to achieve sweetness and bubbles - but you won't find these on our wine list!

So, just as one would not say "French Burgundy" or "French Bordeaux," one would not usually say "French Champagne", but simply "Champagne" - as there is NO other! Click here to check out the selection of festive bubbles from France and Australia on our Carte des Vins and ask us about our wine specials. Santé!
