Once again, over 50 adventurous diners gathered at Le Bistro in Prahran and l'Epicerie in Elsternwick for the seventh culinary adventure on Monday, July 26; and once again, our chefs, Jacky, Kobi, and Adrian, have excelled themselves in presenting an exciting and diverse degustation menu of eight progressive courses (including two cleansers). The next Foodie Experimentations event will take place on Monday, 30 August, at 6:45 pm. Cost: 44pp (plus 31 for matching wines [optional, but highly recommended]). So, if you enjoyed our last degustation event (or stumbled across this page at a later date), don't delay and reserve your places for our next Foodie dinner in August!

Celebration of the Black Truffle
Last winter we stumbled upon some very special truffles in Western Australia. We were so impressed with their taste and quality, that we have been securing a shipment of these "Black Diamonds" to the restaurant for two years running. While Jacky, Kobi, and Adrian are coming up with some delectable dishes with truffles for our winter menu, we have decided to celebrate the beginning of the truffle season with the sensational four-course dinner and matching wines - click here to view the photos of the evening and read the night's menu.

Rencontre Autour d'un Verre
When: Every Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:00
Where: Le Bistro, 121 Greville Street, Prahran
I am personally hosting Rencontre autour d'un Verre from February 2010 - "L'objectif est de ne parler que francais pendant une heure et plus..." If you want to de-rust your French, practice a little, or simply partake in the conviviality of a small group of Francophiles while nibbling on delicious morcels especially chosen by me from our chefs and enjoying a glass wine dans la langue de Moliere, call me to sign up for our weekly gatherings on 0438 357 099.
New members always welcome.
Cost: 30 pp

Cook a Book: Dining with Marcel Proust
It gave me a great pleasure to host as a part of Melbourne's Food and Wine Festival 2010 Cook-a-Book: Dining with Marcel Proust. The menu for this intimate dinner was inspired by dishes and ingredients described by Marcel Proust in his immortal A la recherche du temps perdu. The dinner was co-hosted by Antoni Jach, the eminent Melburnian novelist, playwright, and a Proust Connoisseur... read more...

Chez Dominique
Those who came to the Rencontre autour d'un Verre in March and April 2010 would have met my delightful mum, Dominique. She was here from Bordeaux for a couple of months, and she proposed to have a very special night at Le Bistro. On Monday night, 12 April 2010 Dominique had taken over Chez Olivier and its kitchens, and dished out her secret Bordelaise specialities. Even I was not allowed in the kitchen (talk about deja vu!), so the menu was a secret and a surprise. Click here or on the thumbnail above to view to pictures and read about the dishes of the evening.
